I am currently a Faculty in the NUS Business School at the National University of Singapore.  I am also the Academic Director (in charge of curriculum and academic issues) of the NUS MBA.  Previously I have also done teaching stints at the University of Minnesota , the Helsinki School of Economics and the SP Jain Center of Management ( Dubai ). 

I spend most of my time doing teaching and research.  I also do Professional Service to the academic community.  Below, you will find information about all these aspects.



BOOK publishing

 

 

I have authored a number of books.  My latest book entitled High Performance Companies: Successful Strategies fron the World's Top Achievers has been recetly published by John Wiley and Sons.   In the book I,

  1. Offer a set of practical principles which can be used by companies of different sizes (small or large) in a variety of contexts including different countries and industries,   
  2. Deploy a reader friendly approach by grounding the proposed principles in detailed case studies of companies from different parts of the world including US, Europe and Asia,
  3. Go beyond the often-quoted examples to identify less well-known, yet successful, companies such as YKK, Fanuc, Tiger Balm, Tupperware, Lincoln Electric and SAS Institute, among others.

TEACHING

I teach Strategy and International Business courses, mostly to MBA students.  In the past, I have also taught undergraduate (BBA) students and
Executive MBA students.  I also teach in a variety of Executive Education (non-degree) Programs either for NUS or for my own clients. 
I have taught in customized programs for many companies including Nestle, DHL/ DGF, Asahi Glass/ AGC, Panasonic, Sri Lanka Telecom, Astra International,  Incheon International Airport Authority, and the Commonwealth Secretariat, among others

Some of my clients for whom I have conducted Executive Education include DuPont, CitiGroup Private Bank, IE Singapore, Sri Lanka Telecom, Watwala Plantations, FinPro Consulting and, Finnish Business Council among others.

I have won several awards for my teaching including the following:
